Job Update

So, Region 10 called today. They are who I applied to receive my teacher certification with. And....I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED!!!!!! I must now pay and register for an orientation. Then take their classes over the summer, take the teacher certification exam, and find a job.

I went to the Richardson ISD job fair last weekend. It went so well!!! I know a lot of moms from the preschool who work in Richardson, and ran into 2 of them. I also worked with a girl who works for the district and she talked me up to her principal. So, I was quite confident. It must have showed; I was recommended for an interview with HR, which is the only way you can be hired. 3 schools wanted to recommend me, but after the first, it didn't much matter who did. So I interviewed with HR, which was kind of strange. I felt like I said the same thing over and over. I name-dropped like crazy, which worked out. One teacher mom spread the word about me at her school, and they were one of the schools who were interested in recommending me for an interview. Then after the job fair, back at work, the mom told me that her school "really liked me"!!!!! So, hopefully I won't have TOO hard a time finding a job. They have a 6th grade math and science opening, and at the job fair I spoke with the other 6th grade teacher. We seemed to hit it off :o) It's a small school with a good reputation (exemplary), and laid back, as the mom says.

Scary, but exciting!!!

Hey! I am trying to get certify too... I will start the process this summer. I know in every state is differnt, but how long will it take you to get your certification? I am about to sign up in the PACE program and it looks like it will take me three years. I wish it was faster though. What grades do you teach? Good luck getting the new job. Teaching little one for me is amazing. I was offered a position at a high school teaching advance Spanish and I did not accept because I like teaching elementary and middle school better. Anyway, just wishing you the best of luck.
